Good afternoon,

On October 17th, the school board will hold a special meeting to vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $112,851, the equivalent of the money that was awarded to the district as a part of the state's extraordinary need grant. This money, which became accessible to our district on July 1, 2022 after Governor Sununu signed SB 420 into effect, was assigned to districts based on free and reduced meal price eligible students relative to property values.

Due to how the laws are written regarding the acceptance of these funds, the school board needs to hold a special meeting in which registered voters in the towns of Jaffrey and Rindge can vote to approve or deny the increase of budgeted appropriations equivalent to the grant amount so they can be utilized in the current budget. This meeting will function similar to the district's deliberative session, or a traditional town meeting, in which a vote will take place during the meeting (no official ballot voting). If accepted, these funds will be added to the district's budget this year and will be utilized to improve the educational growth and achievements of learners. Acceptance of this grant would increase our budget without any additional tax impact.

This meeting will be held on October 17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rindge Memorial School Gymnasium. In order to vote, you must be a registered voter in the town of Rindge or Jaffrey.

Have a nice evening,

Reuben Duncan

JRCSD Superintendent
