Suicide Screening

All people who are in contact with our learners must take suicide prevention training. We use online, self-directed training from The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide. Here is a link to their website: https://sptsuniversity.org

All staff will take the first course, "Making Educators Partners in Youth Suicide Prevention: Act of FACTS" (60 minutes). After that class is completed, other classes will become available. Please take the appropriate classes below based on your role.

  • Taken by all staff: "Return to Learn: Reintegrating a Student after a Suicide Related Absence" (15 minutes).

  • Taken by elementary school staff: "Suicide Prevention in Elementary School: Sense or Nonsense" (30 min)

  • Taken by middle school and high school staff: "Middle School: Magic or Mayhem" (30 min).

When training is completed, navigate to the top right corner of the screen and locate the "hamburger icon"

Click on it and choose the last option on the menu, "Certificate". Each person should print the certificate and send a copy to their building principal or supervisor. This training must be completed before you are exposed to any learners in any situation.
