Good evening JRCSD families and staff,

As we enter the weekend, I would like update you on the following topics:

1) Brief COVID-19 Update

2) ESSER III Funds - Survey

3) School Board Meeting

COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 numbers continue to be low in the schools. However, we have had a recent increase in cases at the high school. If learners develop new or unexplained illness symptoms, it is recommended that they are tested for COVID-19 prior to coming to school.

ESSER III Funds

The district has received $2,433,357 in ESSER III funds, $1,933,510 of which has been set aside for the current HVAC work taking place in both elementary schools and in the oldest section of the middle school. In accordance with federal regulations, the district has set aside 20% of its total allocation ($486,671) to address learning loss through the implementation of evidence-based interventions and to ensure that those interventions respond to students’ social, emotional, and academic needs. These funds are also to address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student subgroups. Prior to using these resources, we are surveying stakeholders to find out varying perspectives on how to use these grants funds. I would appreciate it if you would please take a few minutes to complete the JRCSD Parent/Guardian Survey - ESSER III Grant Funds.

School Board Meeting

On Monday night, we will begin to discuss the implications of operating under the default budget for the next school year. As part of this discussion with the school board, there will be a presentation from the middle/high school administration. The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm at the Conant High School Music Room. Have a nice weekend,

Reuben Duncan
