JRCSD Update - January 28, 2022

Before we get into the weekend, there are a few things I'd like to discuss:

1. School Board Meeting - January 31
2. Candidates for School Board
3. Positive COVID-19 Cases

The school board's meeting originally scheduled for February 7th has been moved up one week to January 31. A big reason for this is because the school board voted earlier this month to universally mask for the month of January. Rather than having a gap between that vote and the next meeting, the board decided to move the meeting up one week so that mitigation strategies and COVID-19 data can be discussed. Additionally, there will be a presentation of the JRMS/CHS Program of Studies during this meeting.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the CHS Music Room and digitally via Zoom. An agenda, with Zoom information, can be found here

Today marked the close of the application period for those who wished to run for school board and district moderator. We are happy to see so many people interested in running for these positions this year. Here is a list of everyone who filed:

Jaffrey (three-year term)
Daisy Hawlk
Justen Nagle

Rindge (three-year term)
Jonathan Caruana
Paul O'Malley
Anna Taylor

At-Large (three-year term)
Kim Aucoin
Alicia Stenersen (incumbent, currently holds Rindge seat)

Moderator (one-year term)
Shauna O'Malley
Robert Schaumann (incumbent)

I was notified today of six (6) confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in the district: two (2) at JGS, three (3) at RMS, and one (1) at JRMS. The individuals from JGS and JRMS were last in the building on 1/24. The individuals from RMS were last in the building on 1/21, 1/25, and 1/27.

Have a good weekend,
