Good evening JRCSD families and staff,

I was notified today of six (6) confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, three (3) at CHS, two (2) at RMS, and one (1) at JRMS. The individuals from CHS were last in the building on 10/21, 10/29, and 11/5. The individuals from RMS and JRMS were last in the building on 11/5.

Several of you have asked the district's process for tracking COVID-19 when we announce cases. Anytime we are alerted of a positive case, efforts are made to better understand whether the spread of the virus is internal or external. While nurses are no longer contact tracing to the same level as last school year, they are still working with NH DHHS to identify links between cases that impact our schools. Through this process, we are better able to understand if the spread took place inside the school, through a household (when one family member has COVID-19, we have found in many cases that other household members will eventually get it as well), or somewhere else. We have only identified one COVID-19 cluster that spread within the school space thus far and we will continue to notify the community if/when this takes place. When in-school spread takes place, the district will examine how it happened and what can be done to make improvements so it will be less likely to happen in the future.

We remain in the yellow category of our COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies Matrix. It is recommended that all individuals wear masks while inside our school facilities.

Thank you,

Reuben Duncan

JRCSD Superintendent
