The Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District Student Services Department will destroy records that have been collected, maintained and/or used in providing special education services for special education students born in 1994 or before. This activity is in compliance with federal, state and local policies. The destruction of data policy provides that records may be destroyed when they are no longer needed for educational purposes. Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District Board Policy EHB-R: Data Storage and Record Retention Procedures, Approved: March 20, 2023, outlines the procedures for record retention and destruction. With regard to students with special needs, the policy states, "Upon a student's graduation from high school, his or her parent(s)/guardian(s) may request in writing that the District destroy the student's special education records, including any final individualized education program. The parent(s)/guardian(s) may, at any time prior to the student's twenty-sixth birthday, request, in writing, that the records be retained until the student's thirtieth birthday. Absent any request by a student's parents to destroy the records prior to the twenty-sixth birthday, or to retain such records until the student's thirtieth birthday, the District shall destroy a student's records and final individualized education program within a reasonable time after the student's twenty-sixth birthday, provided that all such records be destroyed by the student's thirtieth birthday." This notification is also aligned with New Hampshire Ed 1119.01 (b) (1) and United States 34CFR ยง 300.624. This destruction is scheduled to take place on July 31, 2024.

Students Affected: This destruction policy applies to Special Education Students born in or prior to 1995 only.
