Early in October the Rindge Memorial School (RMS) and the Rindge PTO coordinated efforts to host the first annual Color Fun Run. Parents, staff and 60 volunteers from Franklin Pierce University facilitated the colorful event for over 160 participants. Multiple routes were planned providing participants the option of a 5k route with four color stations, a one-mile route with two color stations, or a short loop with one color station. Color stations are not locations for coloring your favorite coloring book with crayons or markers. Rather, it refers to participants running through color stations, quickly becoming covered in a spraying of colors.
The Color Fun Run fundraiser earned over $2,000 for the RMS PTO. Support and sponsorship from area businesses was integral in the success of the event. Logos were placed on volunteer t-shirts for businesses donating $50 or more. Kona Ice generously donated 25% of all proceeds to the event. The Rindge Police and Rindge Fire Department assisted with traffic and circulated through the routes to ensure the safety of all. We hope that the success of this fall’s Color Fun Run will translate into expanded participation next fall. If you missed the fun, be sure to sign-up for the 2018 Color Fun Run!
