"I Can Save" at Jaffrey Grade School

Wednesday, March 28th Kimothy Griffin of the State of New Hampshire Banking Department visited Jaffrey Grade School second graders and Ms. Meehan's combined class. Mr. Griffin introduced the financial decision making campaign called, "I Can Save!" The “I Can Save!” campaign is designed to encourage second grade elementary school children to begin a savings habit that can continue through their lives.

This fun, interactive session gives students the opportunity to learn the importance of saving while exploring the differences between needs and wants. Students also share ideas about personal resources (talent, time, skills) they possess to help others.  Each student receives a Moonjar moneybox after participating in an interactive lesson.

Each Moonjar consists of three moneyboxes (Spending, Saving, and Sharing), a family guide to get started, a passbook to record deposits and withdrawals, and a NH Jump$tart elastic band to hold the assembled boxes together.
