2019-2020 Spring Sports Awards

On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, The Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District held its annual spring sports awards banquet.

Each sport is listed below with its own awards and photos from the night. Thanks to Tara Olson for the profile shots of the athletes who won awards!

VARSITY SOFTBALL

Team Record: 8-8, lost in the first round of the playoffs. The girls defeated the eventual state champions Hopkinton 9-1 and eventual state runner-up Campbell 14-13 during the regular season.

MVP: Brenna Welch

VARSITY BASEBALL

Team Record: 9-7, lost in the first round of the playoffs. The boys won nine of 12 games during the heart of the season.

Most Improved Player: Griffin Labonte

MVP: Gavin Motuzas

JV BASEBALL

Team Record: 9-0. The team is full of young talent.

GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS

Team Record: 12-2, lost to state champions St. Thomas 5-4 in the semi-finals.

Most Improved Player: Lily Bower

MVP: Sarah Smith

BOYS VARSITY TENNIS

Team Record: 7-7. Four of the team’s losses were by a score of 4-5. The team gave eventual state champions St. Thomas a run for their money in the regular season, losing 3-6.

Most Improved Player: Kenny Kickingbear

MVP: Chris Newton

VARSITY TRACK AND FIELD

Team Record: Twenty three athletes qualified for states compared to three last year. The girls’ relay team finished third overall, the best finish in two decades. Haylie and Abby Drew qualified for the Meet of Champions - Abby won the long jump for the second straight year and Haylie qualified for New Englands.
